History of The Stevens Wellspring Group

Stevens Wellspring Group has its roots in a consulting project that its President did for a workers compensation insurance company in Portland, Maine in 1999.

The assignment was to create an EAP that would work as well for small companies with 10-100 employees as it would for companies with 1000 employees plus. The insurance company was interested in making EAP available to its customers, because emerging research proved that having an EAP available to employees helps with workers' comp and safety issues. This research showed that 25% of all work-related injuries are related to physical safety, and can be addressed by simple actions such as changing the height of a machine operator’s chair or restricting access to a dangerous piece of equipment.

The other 75% of injuries can be attributed to cultural and behavioral issues with employees.

The result of Stevens' consulting work was the formation of Stevens Wellspring Group. The insurance company that contracted Stevens Wellspring Group was so confident about the benefits performance, that they may offer a full 1% discount on workers’ comp premiums for policyholders that provide an EAP to their employees.

Now, 7 years later, Stevens Wellspring Group provides Employee Assistance Programs, Work-Life Benefits and a full range of ancillary programs including training and education to over 100 companies and their employees across the United States and Canada.

"EAP is all we do and we do it as if the employees' lives depended on it".
